- Community Colleges do NOT requires any tests!
- Study for the SAT with CollegeBoard + KHANAcademy
- Get a FEE WAIVER, so you do not have to pay the $49+ fee. You get 2 for each test.
SAT SUBJECT TESTS:
- Only top private schools, such as Harvard and Stanford, etc., require them.
- UC schools recommend, but do not require, if you want to pursue Engineering or Math.
- Dates are the same as for SAT Reasoning above. You get up to 2 fee waivers.

Get sample questions today. Register for both and take both tests as colleges will look at the highest of the two. You can get up to two fee waivers.

JULY/AUGUST/SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER
- Review career plans and decide with type of school is right for you
- Take career interest inventory in career/college center. Check out www.californiacolleges.edu
- Request catalogs and admissions information using sample request/check out catalogs.
- Register for the SAT Reasoning, SAT Subject, and ACT using FEE WAIVERS so it's free
- Review your academic record: GPA, classes missing for college (remember any D's are considered as Failures - make them up in intercession, night school, or in a community college - free for high school students - sign up now! For four year colleges, you need to have done up to Algebra II by graduation, four years of English, 2 years of foreign language, etc.)
- Meet with college reps visiting Fremont or visit colleges on your own
- Start working on your personal statement for UC and private colleges
- Start getting recommendations from teachers/employers for private colleges
- Attend college fairs
- Academy Aspirants: if interested in service academies (Air Force, Naval Academy, West Point), request nomination and send out pre-candidate questionnaire
- If interested in playing college sports or getting scholarship, register with NCAA.
- Get involved in clubs/activities/leadership/community service: extremely important for private colleges (like USC), U.C. schools, and many scholarships!
OCTOBER:

- Take the ACT and SAT Reasoning test.
- Work on applications
- If applying to private schools (like USC), send in CSS/Financial Aid Profile
NOVEMBER:
- ALL U.C. Cal State college applications are due NOVEMBER 30th!!!
- Take SAT Subject test, or reasoning, or ACT if not done. (Spanish Subject test requires tape recorder)
- If going to Santa Monica College, apply online now – www.smc.edu
DECEMBER:
- All private college applications are due by some time this month. (USC, Stanford etc)
- Apply for outside scholarships
- If applying to Cal States, apply for the EOP program with their separate application online!
- Send your SAT and ACT scores to the Cal States and UC’s electronically via your accounts online.
- Follow all your “to do” items on your portal accounts.
JANUARY:
- Submit your FAFSA application for Financial Aid!!! Keep copies of all forms you send
- If living on campus, apply for housing!
- El Camino College opens up – you can apply to community colleges now or soon!
- Sing up for Placement tests for Cal States online at
- Send transcripts if your college requests them.
- Check all your “to do” items on your portal account.
